Welcome to the Lister Fertility Clinic

Lister Fertility Clinic is widely recognised as one of the leading private fertility treatment centres in the UK. The clinic was established by Mr Sam Abdalla in 1988 and since opening, it has maintained its reputation as being one of the most successful IVF treatment clinics in the UK with over 20,000 “Lister” babies born.

Our private fertility treatment success rates are high both at our main facility and our satellite fertility treatment centres across the UK. These success rates are achieved whilst assisting many couples with complicated histories, whose fertility treatment has previously been unsuccessful or who may have been declined treatment elsewhere.

Drawing upon our experience of treating over 2,000 couples per year, our highly skilled team of doctors, nurses, embryologists and counsellors are committed to providing you with a holistic and considered approach to investigating and treating a wide spectrum of fertility problems. This is supported by the very best medical and scientific services available in the field.

Why choose us?

The Clinic's philosophy

Fertility clinics have different criteria on who they are willing to treat, based on factors like age, markers of low ovarian reserve (such as FSH and AMH Levels) and previous treatment history.

Our philosophy is to treat all patients with a potential to succeed. After discussing your personal history and performing tests to investigate FSH and AMH levels, we give clear and realistic information about your individual chances of success using our Lister Fertility Clinic Pregnancy Calculator.

At Lister Fertility Clinic we don't believe that the final decision on whether to treat should be ours alone: as long as we have accurately advised patients of their chances, those with a low likelihood of success should also be offered fertility treatment if they wish.

Many patients are successful, often after being declined fertility treatment elsewhere. For some, being allowed to try treatment and failing may be part of an acceptance process that may allow other avenues to be explored. Patients can attend as many counselling sessions as they need.

  • In vitro fertilisation IVF

    Need to know

IVF is used to treat a variety of fertility problems. During IVF treatment, sperm is combined with an egg in a laboratory. The fertilised egg (embryo) is then transferred to a woman's womb. IVF can be carried out with a couple's own sperm and eggs, or with donor sperm or donor eggs.

  • Being an egg donor

    Need to know

Egg donors are unique and remarkable women. Their kindness and generosity allows many childless couples to achieve their ultimate dream of having a family.

  • Egg freezing

    Need to know

At the Lister Fertility Clinic, we offer egg freezing to give women the option of freezing their eggs when younger. The main benefit of freezing your eggs is that it 'locks in' the quality of eggs at the age they were frozen so they may be used at a later stage.

  • Egg sharing programme

    Need to know

Our egg sharing programme can help women who are unable to produce their own eggs and conventional treatment is not an option. Although we have the largest egg donation programme in the UK, many couples rely on other women to donate their eggs and are waiting for their chance to have a child. If you're...

  • Donor sperm

    Need to know

Donor sperm can be used to help couples and individuals become parents, regardless of your sexual orientation or a male factor fertility problem. We've offered a successful donor sperm programme at the Lister Fertility Clinic for many years. We can guide you through the whole process, from choosing...

  • Fertility preservation and cancer

    Need to know

Cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy and some surgeries may have a damaging effect on fertility. While these treatments are effective in improving survival rates, they can severely impact ovarian, testicular or uterine function. However cancer treatments don't have to end your...

  • Embryo freezing

    Need to know

If you're having standard IVF treatment, any excess good quality embryos can be frozen instead of being transferred to the womb. Embryos can also be frozen as a stand-alone process to be used later for fertility preservation purposes. Frozen embryos can be thawed and transferred in a future cycle. Recent...

  • Fertility and reproductive medicine

    Need to know

We have fertility specialists who provide a holistic approach to investigating and treating fertility problems. Even if you've been turned away elsewhere, our specialists give you all the information you need to make decisions about your treatment, and will let you know your chance of success. Many of...
